Materials Needed:
One printed copy of the free Reading Knockout game board (available above). Bonus tip: If you don't have a printer, contact us and we'll mail you a copy!
One six-sided die
A pencil or marker
How to Play:
Either as the parent/caregiver or as a family, write one word in each of the blank boxes. Bonus tip: Choose words that your child(ren) may need extra help practicing. Some examples could be "tag," "bell," "again," or "picture." Use shorter words for newer readers or longer words for more experienced readers.
Each player selects a symbol and writes their name next to it.
The first player rolls the die and selects a word from the corresponding column. If they read it correctly, they mark the word with their symbol.
If they read that word correctly, they can use a pencil or marker to write their symbol over that word.
Players take turns, aiming to get four symbols in a row (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally). Players can also block others.
If a column is full, the player skips their turn. The first to get four in a row wins!
